Formed in 2023, The Black & Blues Band is an Edmonton-based rhythm and blues show band dedicated to keeping the blues alive with a mix of old-school classics and contemporary hits. Comprising four talented local musicians, the band delivers a high-energy, soul-stirring experience that captures the essence of both traditional and modern blues. With a deep passion for the genre, they seamlessly blend their unique musical backgrounds to create fresh interpretations of legendary blues songs while forging their own signature sound.
At the heart of The Black & Blues Band is powerhouse vocalist Jana Jasper, whose soulful and dynamic voice brings every song to life. Her commanding stage presence and rich vocal tone pay homage to blues legends while adding a modern edge. Scott Cattral, the band's lead guitarist, delivers electrifying solos and smooth rhythms that channel the heart and soul of blues guitar greats. His technical skill and deep-rooted feel for the genre set the perfect tone for the band's sound.
Holding down the groove is Shawn Brown on bass, whose deep, steady lines provide the foundation for the band’s rich and rhythmic sound. Behind the kit is Rob Swyrd, a master of both drums and percussion, whose dynamic playing adds drive, texture, and intensity to every performance. As a 4 piece band, we will require a minimum of 16' x 10' stage. The PA you provide should be 16 channel digital complete with monitors. The lighting should be adjustable for intensity and color
