JAMES ROBINSON'S NEW RECORD NEW BEGINNINGS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL DISPLAY OF VIRTUOSIC GUITAR PLAYING. HE IS SOUNDING JUST PHENOMENAL ON THIS RECORD AND HIS CHOPS, TONE, NOTE CHOICE, PHRASING ARE ALL QUITE STELLAR. IT'S RARE TO HEAR SOMEONE THAT HAS SUCH AUTHENTIC ACOUSTIC CHOPS, ALSO ABLE TO SOUND GREAT ON A SCREAMING ELECTRIC GUITAR AND HE'S
THAT GUY!
-Steve Vai

James Robinson grew up in the San Jose suburb of Campbell, the twelfth of thirteen children, and was inspired to learn classical piano at age eight.

Moving to guitar at the age of 12, he studied voraciously every imaginable kind of music 8-10 hours a day. All manner of instruments and styles were played in the household, from jazz, classical piano, fusion, blues, country, rock, and the list goes on. The Robinson family home is always filled with every music style imaginable!

Robinson is greatly inspired by the unique sounds of the multi-cultural influences of his home. Robinson blends these inspirations into a virtuosic exhibition, leaving listeners in awe of his talent. He performs true fusion by integrating multiple genres and musical styles from around the globe and crafting these colorful sounds into musical artistry.

Robinson names Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucía as hugely influential in the development of his sound. Robinson expands on the Latin World Jazz blended acoustic genre, and adds Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Robben Ford influences with electric guitar. Tony Rice and Doc Watson for Bluegrass. John Williams and Julian Bream for classical guitar.
