Sacramento's Stepping Stone plays Celtic and Americana with an emphasis on Irish. The band tips its collective hat to the folk music tradition with fiddle, guitar, mandolin, whistles, and bouzouki. Tunes include jigs, reels, polkas, hornpipes, slow airs, and a few songs tossed in for good measure. The group has played Delta King, Sudwerk, Berryessa Brewing, Harlow's, Marilyn's on K, Insight Coffee, the California International Marathon, the Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival, the Sacramento Irish Parade festivities in Old Town, the Holiday Performance Series sponsored by the Sacramento Arts Commission, and CAP Radio's Insight. keeping traditional music alive in the big city.
Stepping Stone played at our wedding ceremony. They set a wonderful tone to the festivities with their music. They were easy to communicate before the big day and helped us pick some songs. They were professional and fun during the ceremony and we couldn't have asked for a better band.
Response from Stepping Stone:
Thanks so much for the kind words, Dylan. It was a lovely ceremony and location for your event. Have a wonderful life together.
They were amazing. So professional and the music sounded amazing. Showed up early and setup was a breeze. It couldn’t have gone better. Perfect. So happy. Highly recommend.
Stepping Stone was wonderful and they were able to accommodate me with a last min booking. They were great for our St. Patricks Prime Rib Night.
Response from Stepping Stone:
Thanks, Emma! It was a pleasure playing there, especially for the dancing children (one of whom who thought our guitarist had a leprechaun in his backpack :)
Heard this trio at Fairy Tale Town in Sacramento. While my focus for the evening was watching children, I was drawn to this beautiful music and wanted so much to listen and to enjoy also the short historic commentaries. "this song is from the 11th century..." (if I heard correctly). Alas -- children will run and must be followed and I could not find a CD online.
Response from Stepping Stone:
Well, thank you for the kind words, Marian. It was such a nice evening. The song in question is "Brian Boru's March." He was the last High King of Ireland and died at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 near Dublin. Thanks for sharing.
