What is provided: 5 touch screen computers for bridge stations. 1 projector for the main viewscreen. 1 tablet for the Captain's map. Self-contained WiFi. An expert on hand to offer help, answer questions, and give instruction on the finer points of starship command!
When our 13 year-old suggested he'd like to fly spaceships for his birthday, we took it to the nth degree! Starship Command came in and set up a gaming experience like no other! The boys were totally engaged in their roles, and the level of communication in the room was staggering for teenage gamers. Best of all, it doesn't require internet! Their stations network, no one has all the information and everyone has to talk to each other in order to fly the spaceship and successfully complete the missions. Our Starship Command Captain knew just how much to interact! He taught the kids how to fly the ship and how to interact according to their role. He observed, retaught as needed, answered questions, gave suggestions, and tips. He was willing to act as captain, if the kids needed more direction, and he was willing to step back and let the boys take "command!" as they felt ready to take on that level. All the while, he kept track of their progress on his own tablet, kept track of mission levels and gave them appropriate challenges to keep them on their toes! The boys played for hours, and were howling for more when it came time to stop!
This experience would be great not only for kids birthdays, but also for adult team building as well as just plain ol' fun! If the thought of the bridge of the Enterprise calls to you to cry out "Engage!" this is the perfect party vehicle for you! The kids are engaged, the Captain is in command, and you get to enjoy the party!

What to Expect
Much like any science fiction starship, communication between the bridge officers is key to the game. The five console operators (Helm, Weapons, Engineering, Science, and Communication) need to effectively communicate with the Captain and each other to most efficiently fulfill their duties. The Captain doesn't get a console. The Captain must coordinate the other bridge officers into a single functioning starship!
I'll want access to the space 30 minutes before you want to start gaming to set up.
I'll set up all the command stations, the main viewscreen, and configure the self-contained WiFi. (I do not need access to the client's WiFi or to the Internet.)
At the beginning of game time, I offer an optional 10 minute lecture introducing each of the ship's command stations.
For the rest of the time, I'm available to answer questions, provide support, and train ensigns in the finer points of starship command.
Play time can be extended for the agreed price per hour.
At the conclusion, I'll need 30 minutes to pack my equipment.
