Formed in NYC in 2005, Spanking Charlene has performed at almost every large and small venue in the city, and has played at venues up and down the East Coast and in Las Vegas. They were the winners of the Sirius radio Underground Garage 'Best Unsigned Band in America' contest and, as a result, recorded with Little Steven Van Zandt (Springsteen, Sopranos) and are on his Wicked Cool record label. Driven by the powerhouse vocals of lead singer Charlene McPherson, the group plays hard driving rock mixed with soul, punk, garage and roots. Their most recent and forthcoming albums were produced by Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel, former Blackhearts ("I Love Rock and Roll") guitarist, who also plays in the band. Spanking Charlene shows are a hard driving, powerful, sultry, sweaty, roller coaster of fun.
