Sounds of the Seacoast
Overview
Portsmouth-based Sounds of the Seacoast women's a cappella chorus is a diverse group of over 25 women all ages and walks of life from many communities throughout the Greater Seacoast area.
We perform at a number of outdoor festivals and special functions throughout the year. We also host our own annual concert every spring and a Christmas Cabaret in December.
Founded in 1979, and in keeping with the style of barbershop music (unaccompanied, four-part a cappella harmony), we enjoy singing and performing a variety of music from standards to gospel songs to more modern pieces.

June 19, 2014Awesome Singing Group!
I was fortunate to attend one of the national competitions that Sounds of the Seacoast was in at Orlando, FL and spend the weekend with them. I can attest that they are an awesome singing group! Not only did they sing in the competitions and place 3rd nationally, but they sang everywhere they went...restaurants, parks, buses, etc.!!! Everybody loved them including me! These ladies have awesome personalities that come out during their performance and they are so professional and full of vitality! You can really tell that they all love to sing and perform! If you get a chance to see/hear them perform, do so! You won't regret it! Very entertaining!

What to expect
Sounds of the Seacoast strives to bring any stage we perform on to life and to take the audience on a journey with us through our music (and in some songs our choreography).
We belong to an international organization of women barbershop singers called Harmony, Inc. and we are the current 1st place regional championship chorus and the 3rd place international medalists. Although we perform primarily in the barbershop style, our repertoire is very diverse and includes standards, modern pieces, ballads, swing tunes, gospel songs and more.
Sounds of the Seacoast is also known for involving our audience in our performances whether it's a sing-along or we're teaching them a "tag" (also known as the last few lines of a song). In all cases, because we like to have fun on the stage, our audiences have a lot of fun too!
About
Portsmouth-based Sounds of the Seacoast women's a cappella chorus is a diverse group of over 40 women all ages and walks of life from many communities throughout the greater Seacoast area.
We perform at a number of outdoor festivals and special functions throughout the year. We also host our own annual concert every spring and a Christmas Cabaret in December.
Founded in 1978, and in keeping with the style of barbershop music (unaccompanied, four-part a cappella harmony), we enjoy singing and performing a variety of music from standards to gospel songs to more modern pieces.
Sounds of the Seacoast also enjoys traveling to and competing at two contests each year -- Area in the spring and International in the fall -- as a member of Harmony, Inc., a larger International organization of women barbershop singers devoted to the education and promotion of a cappella singing in four-part harmony known as barbershop.
Sounds of the Seacoast rehearses every Monday night at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington and we welcome new members throughout the year.
