Sonia's angelic voice and her backing musicians' talents made our event enjoyable for all of our guests. Multiple friends and family approached my wife and I to tell us how much they enjoyed the Latin Jazz and other genres that Sonia seamlessly blended into her sets.
To top it off, dealing with Sonia what a pleasure. Her heart is just as big as her talents.
Sonia and her musicians deserve EVERY gold star available. Bravo! Bravo!!

We had the pleasure of working with Sonia and her band for our music series and not only was I impressed with the quality of music, the upbeat performance and overall quality of the music, I was also impressed by how upbeat and professional Sonia was. She has great communication skills and is very flexible which is music appreciated from our end. Overall, we were very satisfied with Sonia's performance and look forward to working with her again with the opportunity arises

About
Sonia Perez & NovaSon was established by Chicago-based vocalist, Sonia Perez, who has been in the business for 25+ years. With a passion for singing at a very young age, Sonia has developed a sound that's full, crisp and sensual. Her voice goes straight to the heart of her listeners’ and has the power to impact her audience profoundly.
Sonia has performed with Chicago’s finest musicians and has been the lead vocalist for Jose Valdes Mambo Allstars, Everardo Rey y Su Flota Musical, Groupo Oasis, Latin Experience, Grupo Cha Cha and has performed with the Stu Hirsch Orchestra, Joe Rendon & Friends and Ruben Alvarez & Raices to name a few.
Sonia has performed in many popular Chicago restaurants/venues such as Concordia, Riva, Pete Miller’s Seafood & Prime Steak, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Sabor a Café, Eden Restaurant & Events, Rumba, Fairmont Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe to name a few. She has performed in events that include 2018 Chicago Salsa Congress, Mariano’s, Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier’s Beer Garden, Detroit Jazz Festival, the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, Hennessey Jazz Search in New York City.
Sonia loves all musical genres! Born in Chicago to Puerto Rican parents, Sonia grew up in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood known as the "Mexico of the Midwest" where she developed an appreciation for all styles / genres and includes in her extensive repertoire (i.e. Soul, R&B, Pop, Rock, Boleros, Cumbia, Rancheras, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Jazz, Brazilian, and Latin Jazz).
Sonia fell in love with Brazilian music after listening to Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 and continued that love affair while attending the Conservatory of Music in Chicago.
Sonia sings in Spanish and Portuguese and has been influenced by artists such as Dionne Warwick, Karen Carpenter, Diana Ross, Olivia Newton John, Phyllis Hyman, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Elise Regina, Gal Costa, and Basia to name a few.
Sonia's current focus is to continue promoting Sonia Perez & NovaSon brand and to continue recording her favorite tunes and creating original music.
Influences and inspiration
Influences include Latin, Brazilian artists such as Celia Cruz, Olga Tanon, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Basia, Dionne Warwick, Olivia Newton John, Gloria Estefan, Earth Wind & Fire and so many more.
