About
Simon Russell is a singer, pianist, composer, songwriter, and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over four decades of professional performance experience, he has built a career performing alongside internationally recognized artists across jazz, soul, funk, and R&B, including appearances at major festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and the San Francisco Jazz Festival.
Throughout his career, Simon has toured extensively across the United States and internationally, performing in countries including Japan, India, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, and Switzerland. His work spans live performance, recording sessions, and collaborative projects with a wide range of celebrated musicians in contemporary and traditional music settings. His collaborations include Pete Escovedo, Sheila E, members of the Escovedo family (Peter Michael Escovedo, Juan Escovedo), the James Brown Band, El DeBarge, Tuck & Patti, Terrie Odabi, Vet Stone, Rose Stone, Ziggy Modeliste, Elvin Bishop, Justo Almario, Mike McGuffey, Chris Cain, Kenny Neal, Tommy Castro, Sy Smith, Curtis Lawson, Martin Kember, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Anika Noni Rose, The Angels, Lady Bianca, EC Scott, and others. He has also performed in tribute and special events honoring Quincy Jones and appeared at high-profile events such as the Time Magazine New York Icon of the Year party.
As a performing artist, Simon continues to write, record, and perform regularly with his collective projects, including Simon & the Descendants of Soul, blending deep musicality with a lifelong commitment to groove, improvisation, and storytelling through music.

**Performance Rider**
**Artists:** Simon Russell (Solo), JazSynergy (Trio), Adaptyve (4-Piece)
**Technical:** Professional PA system appropriate for venue, stage lighting, grounded power outlets, stage monitors, and access to sound check. Simon provides his Yamaha MX88 unless otherwise arranged. Vocal microphone with stand and DI boxes as needed.
**Hospitality:** Bottled water for all performers, light snacks, clean green room or secure backstage area, and weather protection (covered stage/shelter) for all outdoor performances.
**Travel:** For engagements outside the local Bay Area, purchaser shall provide hotel accommodations, mileage or ground transportation, and when applicable, round-trip airfare and airport transfers for all performers.
**General:** Safe load-in access, nearby parking, and payment according to the performance agreement are required. Technical requirements may be adjusted based on venue size and event production.
