What to expect
We perform as a duo (acoustic instruments), trio (with upright bass), or full band. It's up to you! We are very sensitive to the sound needs of the setting and are consistently complimented on the quality and volume of the sound as well as the connection we make with the audience. We perform mostly our original music with a sprinkling of recognizable classic and contemporary cover songs. Our music is often described as "feel good" and "soulful" with folks bobbing their heads, tapping their toes, engaging in the lighthearted stories we tell from the stage and having a great time.
About
OUR STORY
"Skybound Blue's vocals and truly great hooks set them apart from being just another Americana band" Arial Publicity.
Skybound Blue is harmony-driven, foot-stomping, dig deep and tell the story in your bones kind of music. This Americana band is fronted by married duo Jenny and Matt Behnke based near Portland Oregon. When you meet them you know instantly there is some kind of special mojo between these two. The chemistry that happens onstage is mesmerizing and the songwriting honest. Their music has been played on top triple A stations and was recently featured in a National Woolrich ad campaign.
The couple met in Jazz choir at Spokane Falls Community College, fell instantly in love, then promptly quit school in search of adventure. They spent three summers on Guam, where Matt landed a gig diving for silver bullion on a 17th Century Spanish Galleon. Then, in 2000, they sold everything and sailed the Bahamas for a year: snorkeling, playing music, and making life-long friends.
A year later their lives changed forever when Jenny was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Cancer remains the hardest thing the couple has ever endured. Out of this experience came a sense of urgency to write and play music no matter what; life or death, they are here to share their music.
Skybound Blue's sophomore album, "Better Than The Plans We Made", was released Jan 2015.
Additional booking notes
We can provide a professional PA for our duo or trio but generally require a sound company for the full band. We require a flat, covered (or indoor), performance area of at least 10'x10' with ample lighting. We need access to power close to the performance area. Nothing fancy, just the basics.
Having said all that, we have played "Boat Concerts" with acoustic guitars, no shoes, and just the sunset for lighting! It really depends on your event :)
