Overview

Sixteen Tons plays Juke Joint Americana, a glorious and sophisticated mix of blues, country, jazz, gospel, and soul. Sometimes all at once, sometimes separately. We play original songs and off-the-beaten-path covers.

We were lucky to be chosen by the Long Island Blues Society to compete in the International Blues Challenge in January 2015. We weren't judged to be the most blue, but we sure had a good time.

We are a four-piece band (guitar/vocal, keyboards, bass & drums), but can add additional guitars and harmonica as requested.

We're pretty agreeable. If you like we'll take all the brown M&M's Van Halen isn't using.

Gig length: 60 - 180 minutes

What to expect

We are a rootsy rock & roll band. There will be no pyrotechnics or fog machines. There will be a small amount of stage patter, mostly inside jokes and Spinal Tap references. We can dress up if you require, or even if you just ask politely, but we don't put on matchy outfits or anything.

We will play country- and blues-tinged rock and roll music, and sometimes will just play country and blues music too. You might know some of the words and we love that, but probably you wont. Most of the time people enjoy the bejeezus out of it anyway.

About

We've been a band for 14 years. Three trained professionals and one vaguely charismatic goon up front hogging all the attention.

Additional booking notes

Plenty of clean power at the stage/performance area. If your venue is larger than 500 cap, you must provide a soundman with PA system large enough to project our wonderful music. If you like, we can arrange for that for an additional fee. Lights would be nice. A flat surface on which to set up is also a requirement (especially for the drums), preferably with a small degree of separation from the audience, depending on how rowdy you expect them to be.
