Shawn Seals, born and raised in Syracuse, New York, began playing the keyboard at the age of seven. Experimenting with church chords and jazz sounds, Seals began jig- sawing away at the foundation of what would become his signature sound: a fusion of full gospel chords beneath jazz-filled optimistic melodies. As Seals picked up the guitar, horn, organ, drums and even singing, the jazz fusion artist grew into a well- versed gospel and jazz musician. "The Shawn Seals Experiment, a group that plays a mix of fusion, nuwave, neo-soul, r&b, classic jazz, funk and gospel ((link hidden))" has gone on to win a local Sammy Award and featured with musical greats: Rev. James Moore, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Fred Hammond, John Hinton, John P. Kee, Hezikiah Walker and a young Yolanda Adams. Seals' penultimate talent is meshing other musicians and artists into his style to create up to five collections of live, energetic and impressive music. The Musical Experiment is exciting and far from ordinary jazz and gospel.
