The Seattle Women's Steel Band is an all women Caribbean Steel Drum Band that plays a variety of Caribbean and Latin American musical styles from Calypso and Soca to Reggae and Samba. The band is experienced performing for small events such as house parties or receptions to corporate events and festivals for large audiences.
The band performs with as few as 5 members but can be hired as a full 12 piece band. We also can include dancers to perform and or lead audiences in basic dance moves. Price varies depending on size of band and number of dancers requested. The group formed in 2013 under the artistic direction of Michael Shantz and coordinator Oriana Estrada. The band is based out of MLK Fame Center in Seattle Wa and is a multi-cultural, multi-generational all women's steel pan band. Steel pan music originated in the Caribbean island of Trinidad, the band plays traditional tunes and rhythms such as soca and calpyso but also plays music from across the globe including Brazil, Japan, Haiti and more.
