What to expect
SaxMajor will will arrive to your event at least one hour before performance time. He will customize a song list to your satisfaction and can add extra music on the spot. SaxMajor performs with pre-recorded backing tracks to accompany his performance. He will sound like a full-sized band. Expect about 16 musical selections per hour. SaxMajor can easily adjust volume control to the satisfaction of the audience and the venue. He will also arrive professionally dressed.
About
Performing extensively for community senior centers, private parties, and local restaurants, Ruben is comfortable performing for a variety of age and cultural groups. His musical repertoire includes a variety of musical styles from smooth jazz to recent contemporary music. For the past ten years, Ruben has been performing extensively for senior and baby boomer aged engagements.
Ruben Cantu has been performing professionally since he was 15 years old. Over the years, he has performed extensively throughout Southern California and Las Vegas in an array of diverse musical ensembles, including small ensembles, rock groups, swing bands, and symphony orchestras. Living in Las Vegas for many years, Ruben has performed extensively on the Las Vegas Strip, playing side by side with some of the world's best show musicians. Ruben received his B.M. degree in instrumental music from California State University, Long Beach and his M.M. degree in performance from California State University, Fullerton. Ruben is an early retired public school band director who enjoyed teaching others to play music. Many of his students continued to become professional musicians.
Additional booking notes
SaxMajor supplies his own sound equipment. Depending on the size of the audience, he can bring a small speaker suitable for a small group to a full set sound set up including a PA system with bass subwoofer for a larger dancing crowd. SaxMajor has sound equipment with a Line Out for access to a house PA sound system.
Because of laptop screen limitations outdoors, SaxMajor needs advanced notice if the event is indoors and outdoors. SaxMajor Does have an alternative laptop setup for outdoors.

He loves to play music made famous by by Diana Krall, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Luis Miguel, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Kenny G, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Juan Gabriel, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Bollywood music from India, and many others. Best of all, SaxMajor performs a wide variety of music. SaxMajor can also sing. His vocal specialties includes country-western, Latin, and music from the 1950s through the present. With over 40 years of performing experience on stage, SaxMajor is very familiar with what material will be appropriate for the occasion.

Ruben Cantu is a very pleasant and talented performer. He interacts with the crowd and gets everyone involved.
