Life can be very tough, but it doesn't have to be boring! The Bible tells us that in this world, we will have trouble, but to take heart because Jesus has overcome the world! What joy that brings to my heart! Knowing tough times come (and boy sometimes they seem to come too many and too close together for my liking) but knowing that Jesus is in control and His wonderful grace is with us brings such joy and peace! Parenting can be tough and great, and frightening! My goal is to help bring some humor and joy into parenting issues that might be overwhelming, especially for new parents, single parents, and parents experiencing tough times.
Sandra A. Lancaster earned a BA in Christian Leadership and Management in 2004 and a Masters in Counseling in 2007, both from Lincoln Christian University. She has spent years counseling children and their parents, working in private practice, hospital, clinic and non-profit agencies. She is the founder of Connected Hearts Parenting and author of the Connected Hearts Parenting books, a series of thin books which address individual topics. As a speaker, Sandra can address a multitude of issues from the very serious topics of abuse and mental illness in families to daily issues of improving behaviors at home and school, sibling rivalry and building close relationships with your children, all brought with a sense of humor, respect and of course a Biblical viewpoint.
It seems that all my life, God has been leading me in this direction. I come from a family of 10 kids, and my mom is still sane after raising most of us alone (my dad died when I was very young). I was a single mom. I've worked with children and parents for years as a therapist and continue to enjoy working with parents to improve not only the behaviors of their children, but also their relationships. I've been influenced by other Christian speakers, strong Christian women and lots of good Christian music! But mostly by the Word of God, which is sharper than any two-edged sword and has encouraged me to keep up the good fight, help others and has corrected me when I'm wrong.
