RTB Collective (formerly limited to the 200 Trio) is a malleable event band of musicians united by a shared love, passion, and respect for music that stretches to the core of each musician’s identity. The collective’s areas of expertise are centered in (but not limited to) the music of the American jazz lineage.
After more than a decade in Seattle of hopping between real shows/performances and event bands from one night to the next, Max Holmberg decided to form RTB as a way to bridge the gap between soulless ensembles thrown together for events and expert musicians who are actually playing the music they are passionate about.
RTB offers world class ensembles, both instrumental and vocal.

We offer our own music as well as a vast repertoire of jazz standards and some other songs as well. Holiday music is available too. We can perform as a quiet background group or we can be the life of the party on center stage.
RTB stands for Reason To Be, essentially an English translation of the French phrase, "raison d'être." A lot of corporate/event bands have absolutely no soul. The collective’s areas of expertise are centered in (but not limited to) the music of the American jazz lineage.
After more than a decade in Seattle of constantly straddling the balance between performing with a band on stage one night and working to make the necessary adjustments to bring that same feeling to a completely different event setting the next, drummer Max Holmberg formed RTB to make the process as seamless as possible. RTB incorporates musicians from the 200 Trio and many other professional ensembles based in the Seattle area as needed to best fit the needs of the event at hand, whether it be a wedding, corporate event, private party, or concert. This involves coordinating the instrumentation needed to bring specific music to life, organizing rehearsals if necessary, making sure the group size will work with the size of the venue/performance area, procuring any A/V and professional sound equipment needed and minimizing costs without sacrificing the utmost focus on quality. Collectively, RTB’s musicians have performed all over the world on some of the most prestigious stages all the way down to the most under-the-radar intimate venues in Seattle and have been recipients of and nominated for dozens of Earshot Golden Ear awards.
Our setup is very easy for most events. We bring everything we need to play, unless the venue is especially large, in which case professional amplification is recommended.
