Ren Geisick

We hired Ren for a private performance at our home. She is a true professional--communicates clearly, has a broad and diverse repertoire, works with a talented network of supporting musicians, and overall exceeds expectations. Our guests were blown away by her talent, her grace, and her storytelling. They still talk about her to this day! I hosted a backyard concert last summer and Ren was our entertainment. Every single one of my guests raved about her after the show! They couldn't believe how lucky they were to see her in such an intimate setting. Not only does she have a fantastic voice, but she is a wonderful storyteller, entertainer and has an infectiously positive personality. She really engaged the audience with the stories behind her songs, and moreover delivered them with an uplifting energy that captured and held the crowd's attention throughout the show. She is also a lovely person and wonderful to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to hire her again. In fact, I just did for a corporate event for 200 guests!

I have been going to many venues over a long time to hear Ren Geisick perform. This review is a summary of those experiences. I have heard Ren sing with big bands, trios and solo over many years. She covers a wide variety of songs and writes her own songs in many genres. I have heard her sing jazz, country, americana, rock and roll, blues and pop music. She is a supremely talented and creative singer. Her voice has richness, depth and power. Her ability to cover so many genres and styles with her own interpretation and energy is amazing. Her repertoire is replete with original songs, again in multiple genres. Her lyrics are are both thoughtful and witty. She has a relaxed stage presence and engaging personality that makes her performances both delightful and memorable.

Ren did a concert at our house in 2018. We had about 50 guests; most were family and friends from the area. We asked each guest to provide a donation to help defer costs of the concert. Most people came because they liked us and they generally liked music. I did feel that there were a number of people who were skeptical about what they were about the hear. Because of the skepticism it felt fantastic at the break (about an hour in) when it was clear that EVERYONE of the guests were blown away by the quality of the concert they were seeing. Ren was accompanied at this performance by Jon Dryden and Rich Hinman (the piano and pedal steel players from her “Ren, love song” record) as well as Santa Barbara Local, Austin Beede on drums.

Ren is a wonderful artist, always entertaining and has a very natural ability to connect with the audience. We would have another house concert with Ren in a minute.
