What to Expect
Rachel has performed classical, pop, jazz, sacred, chamber music, and other genres. Her formal training has always focused on classical music but her musical ability is not limited to that.
Rachel graduated from Wright State University with a BM in Piano Performance with a Business Minor. Rachel's piano training began at the age of six. She continued lessons throughout elementary and high school. During high school, she competed in the Middletown Youth Symphony Orchestra and won 1st place for three consecutive years. While still in high school, Rachel started her own piano studio. She has performed for weddings, cantatas, recitals, luncheons, and other various events.
Rachel's piano instructors include Dr. Jackson Leung (WSU), and she is currently working with Butler University's piano professor, Dr. Kate Boyd. She is the recipient of the Linda Pemberton-Toomey Scholarship, an audition-based music scholarship through the College of Liberal Arts at WSU. Rachel's Sorelle Piano Trio was asked to perform in a masterclass with Maestro Keith Lockhart, the conductor of the Boston Pops Symphony in the spring of 2015. She was awarded the Irene Romanowski Piano Award in the spring of 2016. Most recently, Rachel's chamber music group, Troika (piano, cello, and clarinet) received alternate place in MTNA's chamber music competition state division.
She studied viola with Mr. Kevin Nordstrom, the viola professor at WSU and was an active member in the Wright State University's Chamber Orchestra as assistant principal violist.
Additional Booking Notes
Of course, a piano is required. I do not have a portable keyboard. If the lighting is very minimal, I request a music light stand. There is typically no need for sound adjustment as the pianos usually project well.
