What to expect
Once I confirm availability for your date, we'll spend some time discussing your song requirements. Depending on the fee, usually I offer an option of up to 5 custom songs, with the remainder coming from a genre of your choosing ((link hidden)).
Then, I'll send over a contract that nails down your location, time, specific songs we chose, and other weather and cancellation policies. I usually take 50% of the fee up front (nonrefundable) with the remaining 50% being due 30 days before the event and refundable in the event that something happens.
On the day of the event, I'll show up half an hour early to set up, familiarize myself with the venue, and touch base with the event coordinator. From there, I'll perform the songs we selected, as well as general music from the genre of your choosing. After the time slot ends, I'll pack up and conclude the performance.
About
I’ve always thought that a solo cello performance is like listening to the simplest essence of a song. Although it is only one acoustic melody, the cello evokes an entire chorale all on its own with its soaring and sonorous voice.
At any rate, that’s what drew me to this instrument when I started playing over fifteen years ago.
Now, as a professional cellist here in Seattle, I love sharing music with others at weddings and other events, whether with traditional melodies that have been passed down for generations, or acoustic versions of modern day classics (Howl’s Moving Castle, anyone?).
Besides the usual classical repertoire, I love bringing beloved songs and soundtracks to life in nontraditional settings. Some of my favorite cello experiences have been getting to perform in full regency getup for Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte premiere, as well as playing electric cello as backup for a band covering Beatles songs (which was in turn singing backup for interpretative ballet dance… it truly felt like a fever dream)!
I’d love to add a cello-istic touch to your event, whether in Seattle or surrounding cities like Tacoma, Bellevue, and Bellingham. If you’re excited about making magic together, please get in touch with me using the form!
