30th Birthday Party

Ebony Eyze was wonderful. She coordinated with me prior to the engagement. She fully understood what type of vibe and atmosphere I was trying to create. She was on time and gave more than what I asked for. Her professionalism was greatly appreciated. I would definitely book her again and recommended her for your next engagement.

What to expect

When I perform spoken word, I look to tell a story and engage the audience. I treat each poem like a monologue, bringing listeners into my conversation. I am dynamic, dramatic and calm in the same breath. Overall, my goal is to inspire and encourage listeners to reach their highest potential. I am professional and respectful of others time.

About

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Tiffany "Ebony Eyze" Broadwater is a BELIEVER who has used the God-given drive within her to make her dream a reality. Growing up in Hollis, Queens - home to jazz great Count Basie and hip-hop legends Run DMC and LL Cool J - inspired her to pursue music and the arts at the tender age of 9. Her late maternal grandfather, who worked a third job as an upright bass player in a band, introduced her to the world of jazz. She learned how to play the alto saxophone and piano and used it to accompany her passion – writing. Acknowledging her love for the arts, she enrolled in classes at Jamaica Center of the Arts in Queens to develop her skills. Ebony attended poetry and writing workshops at African Poetry Theatre where she learned various techniques from up-and-coming poets. However, it was her literary college professor at Fashion Institute of Technology who motivated her to seek writing as a career and way to inspire others.

Ebony Eyze is a DREAMER who writes with the heart in mind. Her name speaks of “a natural body able to sustain life through perception.” The belief that dreams are reality is the vision behind Ebony Eyze Scripts Publishing (SESAC). As a writer, Ebony presents social issues and human desires in a way that pushes the audience to the edge. She encourages spontaneous thought and imagery where words are given as broken pieces for others to build their own story. Her works included poetry, song lyrics, short stories, and plays. She has performed at various open mikes, showcases, and spoken word events from New York City to Boston. She is currently working on literary projects and looks forward to future collaborations.

Additional booking notes

For spoken word performances, please provide a clear, cordless microphone with little reverb. At times, I require a spotlight or color lighting to set the mood.
