Ni-Emah Bugg is a soul singer, songwriter, poet and producer from the north Bronx. As a student of music, she has studied classical and jazz vocal techniques. A defining feature of her sound is a heavy emphasis on clustered harmonies, layered vocals and all her music is self-produced. She also is a recipient of the NAACP New York Chapter “Phenomenal Woman” award. Her most recent project "The GreenTape" explores the rollercoaster of life through different shades of green and is out on all streaming services. Ni-Emah’s overall mission in life is to use her music to heal, uplift, and intrigue her listeners with her unique sound.

A Ni-Emah Bugg performance consists of a lot of dramatics, crowd participation, and colorful grandiose outfits. There is also the occasional prop if applicable. I want my audience members to feel the freedom to sing a long, scream, and shout. The whole atmosphere should be filled with positive energy and fun.
On the other end of the spectrum, if I am a background singer for a performer, I assimilate myself into the environment without standing out too much. Whoever is the lead should be shining and uplifted by me and the others in the band. A Ni-Emah Bugg experience in a lounge would be in another place on the spectrum. I would want this experience to be smooth, pleasant without being too forceful. I paint the atmosphere with my sound.
Ni-Emah Bugg a singer, songwriter, poet from Bronx, New York. By day, Ni-Emah is a singing college student, and by night she is a singing college student who is a novice on bass. In her music, she utilizes usually one instrument, her voice. She layers vocals to create a unique sound. Her style is a mix of soul, funk, hip hop, experimental, jazz and classical. Recently she has released the Simple Little Picture EP. All of the tracks on this EP were made using only the voice. In addition to music, Ni-Emah Bugg also has released her book of poems and recipes entitled "The Glossal Experience".
I usually bring my music on a track with me or I play the bass solo. I prefer a back up band but if that is not available I bring my track or bass with me.
