New Legacy Blues (NLB) was formed to bring a modern sound to classic blues. We deliver tight, upbeat blues with songs drawn from the Chicago, Memphis, and Austin blues scenes. Our lineup is comprised of seasoned musicians from the DMV. Vocals are shared among the entire band, adding to its diverse and dynamic sound. NLB is committed to performing music that inspires you to get up and dance!
NLB is experienced at running our own sound, and can supply a full, high-end sound system including PA, speakers appropriate to the space (large or small), stage monitors and lights.

New Legacy Blues was formed by seasoned musicians in the Washington DC metropolitan area to bring a modern sound to classic blues.
This four-piece unit delivers tight, upbeat performances with songs drawn from the Chicago, Memphis, and Austin blues scenes. The band is committed to music that inspires the audience to listen…and get up and dance.
Guitarist Bob Deforge brings a diversity of playing styles, from driving R&B rhythms to subtle blues lines, and adds soulful vocals to the mix.
Fiddler Sam Baumel offers a unique sound to blues classics, ranging from traditional fiddle to new tones reminiscent of harmonica, keys, and slide guitar.
The band is anchored by a powerful rhythm section consisting of Phil Hamm, a dynamic bassist, and Marc Zoellner an “in the pocket” drummer. Both Phil and Marc sing lead on many songs.
New Legacy Blues delivers its brand of electric blues with the passion and integrity of a group that has spent decades refining its craft. The band is available for performances throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

High-energy music deserves a high-end PA. We supply one that’s “tuned in” to our sound, as well as lighting to provide an appropriate atmosphere.
We pride ourselves on managing our stage and “front of house” volume to deliver a great sound, at levels that every audience can enjoy.
We can typically load-in, set-up and sound check in an hour, and can tear-down and load-out in the same amount of time.
