Awesome Multi Talented Musician

I first had the pleasure of seeing "Frat" perform with the Texas Southern University OCEAN OF SOUL. During his professional career today, I have enjoyed his performances. Ricky is up there with Kirk Wayland and other music legends. Saxophone is my favorite musical instrument and Mr. Saxophone masters it each time he touches it.
I urge the public to invite Mr. Saxophone to entertain its next engagement--you will be glad you did.
Peace Out.

Mr Saxophone is a HIT!

Anytime a discussion of jazz saxophone takes place, in Houston, a handful of names invariably crop up, even from those only vaguely familiar with the form. Mr. Saxophone, Rickey Ford, is one of those names. Known for his warm tone, talent, great spirit and versatility, Rickey also comes with a seemingly unending depth of knowledge of the jazz standards, greats, and more in his mental catalog. Not only is Rickey a damn fine saxophonist but his flute playing, is equally sublime. Mr. Saxophone comes highly recommended, and if you are fortunate to have his talent grace your event or show, make sure you check out the list of platinum and gold album players he has played with, so you can fully appreciate who you are working with. His playing is especially gorgeous and fluid in the jazz numbers, which he often mixes with a few lines of verse or scatting. I can go on about his playing, and his gifts as a music master, as well as a local, regional, legend in music, but he is also a pleasure to work with. Rickey Ford, donates a majority of his time to music education, and working with people with special needs, as he is a patient, and loving person. His website themusicprogram.com is worth supporting.

Mr. Rickey Ford Exceeds Expectations

I have been following Ricky Ford for over 5 years. I have seen him play as a one-man band, which is phenomenal, at my Houston Oilers cheerleaders reunion party at city center in Houston.

It is just fascinating to be able to be in his presence because as a performer he gives his heart and soul to his music. He is able to draw his audience in with him as the music takes over and we have to tap our feet, bob our heads, sway our bodies and eventually we are up dancing because Mr. Ford's energy overflows.

My daughter is getting married in November and although Mr. Ford will be out of town he has agreed to come back and perform for my daughter as she walks down the aisle. I am so blessed and fortunate that Mr. Ford who has played several times with the Houston Symphony and with greats such as Jennifer Holiday, Joe Sample and The Temptations, recognizes that while he has performed with legends, my daughter's wedding is not too small of a venue for him.

His stewardship for those who are in need of love flows through the music as he gives of his time to teach those who are less fortunate. Mr. Ford seems to be able to use his teaching ability as a form of music therapy for the lost, broken hearted and even disabled.

I recommend and support Mr. Ricky Ford as an artist whose abilities are second to none and a heart filled with a passion for music that moves Souls.

Mr. Saxophone is the best in Houston

I have used Mr. Saxophone for years! He's the best! He can play anything and is appropriate for any venue, large or small, informal or formal. Mr. Saxophone has literally played with everyone from Jennifer Holiday to the late, great James Brown. Mr. Saxophone, most importantly, knows how to get a party started and is lots of fun.

About

Whether he's backing up, regional, national or international or back home in his adopted state of Texas performing or abroad with his various groups, etc., Rickey Ford is not only a musical but an artistic, community and business force to be reckoned with as well. He is a humble man who believes that all men are created equal and that they should be treated as such, no matter what.
As a kid growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Rickey developed an interest in business and got his feet wet while watching his mother work a full-time job as well as well as several other part-time self employment positions. His father also had an entrepreneurial spirit as well. While in elementary school, Rickey started several businesses that were so successful he was able to hire his own classmates to work for him. He also became a boyscout while in elementary school and later started singing, playing various percussion instruments and the recorder. Right before he started Junior High, Mr. Ford bought himself a guitar and amplifier and the gentleman began to teach himself how to play. Then came the alto saxophone followed by the flute, all while in junior (link hidden)ter on he added piano and clarinet to his musical arsenal.
These and his succeeding years in high school were full of musical challenges and struggles. Mr Ford didn't have any natural musical talent whatsoever nor did he come from an artistic and supportive family. Couple all that with being poor and living with a very ill single parent, etc. Even though he was playing saxophone in band class, he was essentially teaching himself because his fine band director (Kenneth B. Ichols) was overloaded with students without the help of an assistant band director. Mr. Ichols also had to deal with the administration, parents, and a lot of disciplinary issues in classes.
