Overview

We create original acoustic music and also play classic covers for intimate wine , charity and dinner events, gallery openings, birthday parties and company gatherings where people want to converse, but can also listen closely for a richer experience.

Mission Hill's original music seems familiar, remaining approachable and fun. We take requests when possible and imbue a down-to-earth, less formal vibe to events.

We provide all sound amplification equipment and instruments, at least two musicians, mandolin, guitar and often an acoustic bass. We transport, set and strike our gear. Our equipment will amplify our music, for up to 100-person events without a house PA system. Find us on Spotify

Big fun for a big crowd!

We had Mission Hill return for another great show at our Burlingame Library Summer Reading Kick-Off this year! They were super engaging with our large crowd of all ages, along with just being very talented musicians. 10/10 recommend!

Thanks for the kind words and for having us play this super fun and worth while event, main takeaway ....if you ( the kids) don't read lots of books this summer , you'll end up in a bluegrass band or worse! ;-) .

Great band, great to work with

Can’t say enough great things about Mission Hill. We hired them for my wife’s birthday party and we loved their songs, musicianship, and the good times they brought to the party. Aaron was great to communicate with, their PA sounded great, and the gig went off without a hitch. Thanks again Mission Hill!

It Doesn't Get Better Than Mission Hill!

These guys are awesome! Their song choices were 100% on point for a Saturday afternoon festival atmosphere and they interacted with the audience between songs to keep us laughing when were weren't tapping our feet and clapping our hands. Thanks, guys!!!

What to expect

Mission Hill is perfect for receptions up to 150 people. They are easy to listen to and allow conversations among the guests . Without overpowering the atmosphere, they exude energy and acoustic based excitement in the best of bluegrass and americana styles for those who want to listen and even dance. We feature traditional "close harmony" style singing, supported by driving instrumental rhythms.
We do about 40% original compositions and the rest covers of some well known blue grass and "real" country classics. Think Johny Cash, Buck Owens, Louvin Bros. , Jim and Jesse, Dolly Parton , Mavericks and others.

About

Mission Hill creates contemporary acoustic music mixed with liberal doses of classic country and bluegrass styles. It's acoustic music with spunk and drive.
Mission Hill's original music seems familiar, remaining approachable and fun even when it sometimes delves into the dark and ambiguous . Primary songwriting and lyrics are by Richard Lamar with Aaron collaborating on the music. Located in San Francisco's Mission district, Mission Hill was formed in 2010.
Our new CD, So It Goes, was just released in June 2024, you can find all the tracks on Spotify.
