About
I first fell in love with numbers doing the books for my mom’s little shop on Main Street. Years later I earned my Masters of Professional Accountancy. I loved how numbers became so tidy within accounting systems and created a picture in my head. When I discovered that others couldn’t see that picture, I devoted myself to helping them see it--to giving them the special glasses that brought on a lightbulb moment.
My journey hasn't always been easy. One of the hardest things for me to admit when I first started my CFO business was how close I had come to running my own ecommerce business into the ground a few years prior. There was a day when I woke up to find that our marketing costs had skyrocketed and sales were slashed by over 60%. Literally overnight.
I had taken my eyes off the numbers. I stopped paying attention. My ego got in the way. Yes, I was a very accomplished Controller for a multi-million dollar company at the time, but that didn't mean I could run on auto-pilot.
So when I talk to business owners who are embarrassed by the state of their books, or are hiding the true health of their business from their family because they don’t want to worry anyone, I get it. I know what it feels like to hide in a fort of blankets and Kleenex. But I also know how to get out of that rut. The only thing that saved my ecommerce business was getting back to the fundamentals: the numbers.

On the personal side, I adore my family, relish the short garden season (get it? “relish”?), and play a lot of bridge.
