Sketches also performs updated versions of traditional Jazz songs made famous by artists like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, and Billie Holiday. April 29, 2026I cannot recommend Marty and his band enough. We hired them to have a jazz trio at our wedding cocktail hour and they truly knocked it out of the park even in spite of the weather being a bit unpredictable with rain. While I think many brides see cocktail hour as filler time, I cared A LOT about it and Marty truly worked so well with me to make sure all of my favorite songs were played. They even agreed to play with the sax player we had for our reception so they could perform In the Mood for our big entrance and champagne tower and it sounded amazing!!

August 14, 2020We had such an amazing time with the maroon Corey group! We booked them for my sister‘s retirement from the Air Force/husband‘s birthday and they completely exceeded our expectations! They were very professional, came early and set up on time, and even dressed the part for our 70s theme! They played all the songs that we asked for, and even let my sister sing on the microphone! We never booked a jazz band before so we weren’t sure of what to expect, but they blew everything completely out the water! Very reasonable with pricing and very interactive with the crowd! I will definitely book again!

January 23, 2015The Sketches Jazz Band was simply amazing. They played all 20"s music and included "Minnie the Moocher" and "As" by Stevie Wonder. The guests danced and had a wonderful time.

You can come out and hear Sketches perform live in various Greater Richmond area locations, such as Emilio's Downtown Tapas Bar. We have also performed live over the air on WRIR 97.3FM. We feature a mix of longtime area Jazz artists as well as members newer to the local scene.

We are able to bring our own sound support for small to medium-sized events (50-250 people). Staging and any special lighting must be provided by the client. We require two or more electrical outlets with standard household voltage and current (120VAC). If the performance is over two hours long, we will require one or more 15 minute breaks, depending on length.
