Overview
Entertaining Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist recently arrived from the Portland, OR songwriter community, performing a wide range of genres with a remarkable variety of vocal styles. Audiences enjoy his fascinating and often humorous prologues to songs, as well as the occasional sing-along. Surprising and fun, Martin sings songs of emotional depth that range from light to dark. Great versions of cover songs, too! As a fellow Portland songwriter once remarked, "You never know what Martin is going to do next, but you always know it's going to be great!"

About
Martin Hill is a restless spirit of music, covering broad terrain in his mad headlong search for genuine creative integrity. Early on, he was awarded vocal scholarships, a teaching assistantship, and a graduate school fellowship to earn his Doctorate in music composition. Over the years, he has performed rock, country, and folk with a variety of groups, including serving as bass player for a touring group, and has also spent time performing Medieval music, British Isles traditional song (electric and acoustic), experimental improvisational music, and jazz. He formed Vertebrate Productions LLC, and released his first CD of postmodern electronic music, selections from which he later displayed as a multimedia performance with large-scale projected synchronized photography and artwork of his own design. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Music Theory and Composition, after which his attention turned to songwriting, which has since been his primary performing and creative focus. Martin moved to Portland, OR to become a part of the songwriting community there, performing solo and with his trio Martin Hill 3, teaching, and presenting workshops at the renowned Artichoke Music, and at Beacock Music in Vancouver, WA. He has recently relocated to the rolling wooded hills of the central U. S., performing house concerts and gigs in surrounding states out of Springfield, MO.
