Mark Robinson Jazz
Overview
With the swing of Sinatra, the soul of Hartman, and the cool of Connick, Robinson delivers sophisticated, swinging jazz crooning. Called "one of the most exciting additions to the Bay Area vocal scene in recent years," Robinson follows in the footsteps of the midcentury masters while putting his own stamp on every phrase. As All About Jazz put it: "Like the very best in this game –- Sinatra or Tony Bennett -– Robinson makes it all sound so effortless.” Whether it’s a laid-back jazz club vibe or a swinging dance party atmosphere, Mark can create the perfect musical mood with a variety of ensembles, from a single piano to a full six-piece band. Classic. American. Song.

What to expect
In performance, Robinson delivers a sophisticated swinging musical cocktail. While the sound is grounded in mid-century jazz, he has played in a wide variety of venues and settings: Weddings, parties, corporate events, clubs, concerts, lounges. His works with the very best sidemen in the Bay Area, and the number of musicians can be tailored to your event and budget, from a single piano or guitar accompaniment to a full six-piece ensemble. Always on time. Always completely professional.
About
Jazz singer Mark Robinson draws his major inspiration from the Great American Songbook, and lovers of jazz and classic pop singing are drawing inspiration from Robinson’s classic and authentic interpretations.
As Dan McClenaghan from All About Jazz said about Robinson’s debut recording, “Like the very best in this game—Sinatra or Tony Bennett—Robinson makes it all sound so effortless on this truly superb vocal jazz outing.”
Given such praise, Robinson’s appeal to live audiences isn’t hard to understand. His style is elegant and refined, but always swinging. And as he works his way through the jazz standards of composers like Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hart, and new classics from writers like Elvis Costello and Dave Frishberg, Robinson’s delivery is both emotionally direct and musically sophisticated. He’s cool, all right, but his music, at the same time, is fun and alive.
Robinson is dedicated now to the wonders of jazz, but he began his career at 16 as a classical singer, studying voice and music theory with a San Francisco Opera baritone. He went on to perform in London, Los Angeles, Seattle and Boston. “I always figured that in my next life, I’d be a crooner,” he says. “I’m glad I didn’t have to wait that long.”
With a Bay Area performance schedule that has been steadily expanding, Robinson’s cadre of fans has been growing, as well. Local musicians have also taken notice, and Robinson’s recent collaborators have included some of the best artists on the local scene.
Don’t miss this great new voice interpreting a new chapter in the Great American Songbook. Classic and fresh, all at once.

Don’t get around much
Early autumn
East of the sun
Embraceable you
Every time we say goodbye
Everything happens to me
Everything i love
Exactly like you
Fly me to the moon
A foggy day
Gee baby ain’t i good to you?
A ghost of a chance
The girl from ipanema
Here’s that rainy day
How about you
How deep is the ocean
How long has this been been going on?
I didn’t know what time it was
I fall in love too easily
I got rhythm
I’ll be seeing you
I’m glad there is you
I’m in the mood for love
I’m through with love
In the wee small hours
I remember you
I wanna be around
I was doing all right
If i were a bell
Isn’t it romantic
Isn’t this a lovely day?
It had to be you
It’s always you
It’s only a paper moon
I left my heart in san francisco
I only have eyes for you
I thought about you
It never entered my mind
I’ve got the the world on a string
I’ve got you under
I’ve grown accostomed to her face
I’ve never been in love before
J’ai vu
Just friends
Just in time
Just one of those things
Let’s face the music and dance
Let’s fall in love
Let’s get lost
Lullaby of birdland
Lush life
Mean to me
The more i see you
Moonglow
Moonlight in vermont
My foolish heart
My one and only love
My romance
My shining hour
Nature boy
The nearness of you
The night we called it
No moon at all
Old devil moon
On the street where you live
One for my baby
Our love is here to stay
Pennies from heaven
Pick yourself up
Prelude to a kiss
Polkadots and moonbea
Route 66
The shadow of your
Say it isn’t so
Skylark
A sleepin’ bee
Some other time
Someone to watch over me
Something’s gotta give
’Swonderful
Spring is here
Stardust
Stompin’ at the savoy
Straighten up and fly right
Surrey with the fringe
Sweet kentucky ham
That old feeling
That’s all
There will never be another you
There’s small hotel
These foolish things
They all laughed
They can’t take that away from me
They say it’s wonderful
This can’t be love
This is always
Three little words
Time after time
Too close for comfort
The very thought of you
Waters of march
Wave
The way you look
What a wonderful world
What is this thing called love?
When lights are low
When sunny gets bluef
Where are you?
Where or when
Witchcraft
You are too beautiful
You’d be so nice to come home to
You stepped out of a dream
You make me feel so young
You must believe in spring
