Marji was Marvelous

Marji, words don't do her professional service justice. Warm, caring and charismatic, Marji was able to pull off a wonderful surprise for a 20th wedding anniversary. She accommodated our every need and gave us more than our song requests.

About

Acoustic guitarist and vocalist Marji Zintz, living and performing in the Catskills/Hudson Valley region of New York, is a gifted, soulful interpreter performing a hybrid of contemporary folk, rock, and jazz. “Marji puts an indelibly personal stamp on songs from such diverse writers as Aimee Mann, Mark Knopfler, and George Gershwin...and accompanies her voice with sophisticated and skillful guitar work.” ~The Folk Project

With a voice that has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Eva Cassidy, Shawn Colvin, and Billie Holiday, Marji has performed thousands of shows and has recorded as a soloist and in larger ensembles in the jazz and folk genres in the greater New York area and in and around the northeast, such as a mostly a Capella recording and performance project called “Sister Sound,” a performance and recording project called “GaiaWolf,” and currently part of an exciting new project, “Becoming Human,” with Jim Kunkel on guitars and Mickey Kopchak on effects & bass and vocals, and occasionally Ron Wilson or Larry Balestra on drums/percussion. They perform original songs of observation, realization, and transformation. Becoming Human defies categorization, but it has the improvisational feel of jazz and the soulful feeling of folk/rock/alternative.

Additional booking notes

I provide my own sound reinforcement for the majority of the shows I play, so what I need is ready access for loading in, a sufficient amount of space for a solo up to a trio and their gear, and access to electricity. A glass of water would be wonderful. When I perform in a space that already has sound, then I require three DIs for my three guitars (I supply my own cords). I always bring my own mic and I appreciate a mic stand and an xlr cable ready, but I can provide those, too, with notice.
