June 7, 2026Increíble!!!!

I think he was very good with his voice. And love the way he played his guitar. It was a little hard to hear him and next time we will just asked him to turn up his sound system.
Great for intimate social events.

December 29, 2023Maestro Otoniel uplifted moms 90th birthday party!!
My mom turned 90 this month. She was born in Costa Rica & moved to the USA as a 16 year old. We wanted to find someone who could play in a small venue, a restaurant in our case, & was familiar with the songs of her youth. To say that Otoniel fit the bill is hardly enough. He has a beautiful voice that blends well with his requinto guitar. Gentle & soft spoken, Otoniel turned what would have been just a fun party into a memorable one. My mom has already extracted a promise from me to drive her to the restaurant where he plays on weekends, 48 miles round trip, to enjoy some good Colombian food & some more of his beautiful music.

About
Otoniel Miranda Ospino, es oriundo de Tamalameque. Cesar. Colombia.

Otoniel Miranda Ospino, was born in Tamalameque, Cesar (Colombia). At the age of 19 he had his professional artistic beginnings, when he made his first recording, for the Sonolux label in Medellín, next to the accordion player from San Jacinto, Bolívar; Ramón Vargas, by Wilson Choperena (the one with the famous “Pollera Colorá”) and José Linares; Likewise, the interpretations of the folklore of Cesar and La Guajira were unforgettable, with Carlos Huertas known as El Cantor de Fonseca.
Later he made choirs with the well-known vallenato ensemble of Los Hermanos López and Jorge Oñate. He was part of the trio “Los Auténticos Vallenatos” together with Alberto Fernández and the late Ángel Fontanilla. He is still musically linked with the maestro Fernández, with them (with Fernández and Fontanilla) he recorded four long plays (LP’s) playing the first guitar and choirs, these works were made for the record company Discos Fuentes de Medellín, the success of “Sombrero de Jipijapa” by the authorship of Juan Tuirán.
He was the exclusive artist of the CBS label today Sony Music, with that house only a long-lasting record of four scheduled were recorded, because the singer Jimmy Vence (first voice of the trio) died prematurely in an accident. He continued to be linked to CBS playing his guitar together with Diomedes Díaz, in important musical works such as "Oye Bonita", "Te Necesito", "Bajo el Palmar" and others.
With the Brothers Zuleta, Poncho and Emilianito his sonorous requinto was heard on songs as catchy as "The Son of Patillal" by the late José Hernández Maestre and "Así fué mi querer" by Gustavo Gutiérrez. It should be noted that before Poncho Zuleta was a national artistic figure, they formed a musical trio with Ángel Fontanilla R.I.P.
With Jorge Oñate he was playing his guitar in the work titled “Paisaje de Sol” which, as you know, was a national success.
With whom he has recorded the most has been with Iván Villazón, he has accompanied him since his first performances for the music label Phillips, then he made the Colombians dance with the hit “El Arco Iris” by Rafael Escalona, as well as with the song “Los Tres Hermanos” by Tobías Enrique Pumarejo the famous old Toba.
Other outstanding themes in which the master Miranda has been a central banner are "La Mariposa del Rio Badillo", also authored by Escalona and the Villazón CD titled "El Vallenato Mayor".
He did an important musical work with the maestro Guamalero Julio Erazo, the success was distinguished “Mi Retrato”, a merengue of Julio himself. He made some recordings with the remembered Nono Narváez, singer of the savannahs of Córdoba and Sucre.
For many years he accompanied the teacher Rafael Escalona, supporting him musically with Alberto Fernández, Lucho Díaz and Carlos Candelo, on national tours throughout Colombia.
Lastly, he presented a new recording this time with the voice of Lucho Díaz, a job entrusted to him by his great friend Augusto Escorcia Vargas, to whom the maestro Otoniel put a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge, hoping to please the demanding public who loves the vallenato on guitar.
Otoniel currently lives and works in Houston, Texas and keeps being a passionate, true representative of Colombian folklore and heritage. For bookings, please contact him via GigSalad.
