What to expect
1. Personalized Voice Memo
If you'd like to hear how I sound on a song you love, I’m happy to send a short, personalized voice memo. It’s a simple way to make sure my tone and style fit the atmosphere you’re creating.
2. Free 5‑Minute Live Listening Session
New clients can schedule a quick 5‑minute live listening session. This gives you a real‑time feel for my voice and helps you decide whether I’m the right match for your wedding or event.
3. Song Style Match
Tell me the style or mood you’re envisioning, and I’ll send a brief voice memo that reflects it. This helps you hear how I’d support the energy of your celebration.
Preparing for a performance or special occasion is something I take very seriously. Live moments can be unpredictable, and my goal is always to arrive centered, prepared, and vocally ready. I commit to a consistent routine so I can deliver a positive experience for everyone involved.
To prepare for a solo—whether it’s one song or ten—I maintain a training and practice over many years. It includes:
Two formal voice lessons per month, supported by ongoing self‑practice, with the same teacher I’ve worked with since 1993
(a few breaks over the years, and meeting consistently again since 2015).
Daily vocal warmups to maintain clarity, tone, and stamina.
Alexander Technique for Singers, focusing on breath, posture, and alignment.
Cardio training—swimming, tennis wall practice, indoor cycling, elliptical, or incline treadmill—to strengthen lung capacity for sustained notes (singing through parts of the exercise for stamina; 20 minutes, 3–4 times per week). Isometric and core‑strength exercises to support vocal power and resonance.
Dance for singers, which enhances coordination, balance, rhythm, musicality, and overall stage presence.
Along with plain hot lemon water, these habits allow me to bring artistry, consistency, and presence to any setting.
At the same time, I also prepare by considering the overall environment: what to wear, the purpose of the event, who it is for, the theme, and the performance placement—whether people will be seated, moving around, or talking. The environment influences the sound, so I typically choose formal wear and remain flexible as needed.
You can expect me to arrive at whatever times are required (for example, rehearsal at 3, service or program at 6).
Depending on the event and venue requirements, I may need to bring a pianist or organist if one is not available and is necessary. I can also use other forms of accompaniment, such as a wireless device and speaker. I am fully comfortable singing a cappella as well.
