I'm a dynamic singer and guitarist available for your live music needs. I’ve toured the world as a musician, and I’m known for having an incredible voice.

I'm trained in classical and jazz voice and I have sung in many settings, with international opera companies to small jazz clubs in the middle of the back-country USA. My passion is in bringing communities together through music.
I am able to perform solo or with an ensemble, depending on your needs.
I've seen her perform at multiple venues. She has a wide repertoire and stunning original music. She engages an audience, either as a performer or songleader. When she plays people come out to listen, collaborate, and delight in human connection.

I play background music as well as concerts, both solo and with a band. As a solo performer, I play guitar and sing. I have my own equipment (speakers, mic, etc) or I can use yours.
I have three ensembles that are also available for gigs: a jazz group (2-5 members), a Jewish music group, as well as a folk band. We also can provide our own equipment or use yours. I do charge extra for providing equipment.
Sets are 45 minutes to 1 hour long. We take a 15 minute break fit every two hours of playing. As an ensemble, I can coordinate music for up to a 4 hours. As a solo act, I am available for 3 hours maximum.
When I work with a client, we work together to plan out the set list, based on their interests and my experience.
I’m happy to answer any more questions that you may have.
Leah Shoshanah is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, guitarist and Cantorial Soloist. Daughter to a classical musician and visual artist, her songs paint stories of home and family, with the fire of a traveler's heart and the desire to build a better world. In concert, she creates an experience that echoes the American Folk traditions of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen; with music as moving poetry, woven with sing-a-longs and stories.
Leah has released two albums, which draw from folk, rock and jazz. Her most recent release, Brave Woman, is "a reminder that we all must carry on in the face of adversity and never stop creating art, speaking out, and living for ourselves" ((link hidden)). Leah performs both solo and with bands. Her debut album, “A Child Like This” (2017), features an ensemble of nine musicians, her second release, "Stillness" (2018), is an intimate collection of solo Jazz and Brazilian guitar arrangements. Leah has played to rooms big and small, solo and with bands, from historic Chicago stages (Old Town School, the Green Mill, PianoForte Chicago) to synagogues, church basements, yoga studios and other grassroots community spaces.
As a Cantorial Soloist, Leah sings, plays guitar and writes original adaptations of Jewish prayer and spiritual texts. She enjoys digging through vintage songbooks in library basements and transcribing Youtube recordings of old Sephardic melodies. Leah is the resident Cantorial Soloist for Tzedek Chicago. She also works freelance with communities around the Chicagoland area.
