My name is Kalen, I'm a pedal harpist with over 15 years of experience based in Montreal, Quebec studying in my PhD at McGill University. Kalen Smith is a Canadian harpist and composer, currently pursuing a PhD at McGill University. His interests on harp are vast, ranging from video game and film music, to popular music, to the great classics. He studied harp for over a decade with renowned Juno nominee Caroline Léonardelli and Jennifer Swartz, the principal harpist of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. He has performed at the Chilean embassy in Ottawa, and alongside the Adleisia choir and the McGill Symphony Orchestra in Montréal. In 2024, Kalen was the winner of the 8th USA International Harp Competition Composition Contest for his original harp piece “Bioluminescence,” which he will be performing in Toronto for an upcoming harpist conference.
