Joy's style of comedy is clean with a bit of an edge. She performs well for mixed audiences: churches, clubs, black, white, male, and of course female. Joy shares her stories of marriage, family, teaching, and surviving breast cancer.
Joy always wanted to try stand-up comedy, but instead pursued a career in education; first as a high school English teacher and then as a librarian. However, one day, Joy had a slight interruption. In 2008, Joy was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She decided to start crossing items off of her “bucket list”. A friend enrolled her in a stand-up comedy class, and the rest as they say is history. Joy now performs for clubs and fundraisers all over the Hampton Roads area. She loves telling her story through humor.
All I need is a working mic, speakers, and stage lighting, like a spotlight. But, champions adjust; I'm flexible.
