Vernard "The Laugh Therapist®" Hines is a nationally recognized clean comedian, motivational speaker, and author who uses humor, storytelling, and faith-centered encouragement to inspire audiences across the country. A retired Army veteran, and a Peer Recovery Specialist. Vernard has built a reputation for delivering powerful, engaging performances that blend laughter with meaningful life lessons, creating experiences that are both entertaining and transformative.

Vernard is the author of the newly released book Laughing in the Dark, Healing in the Light, a heartfelt and inspiring work that shares his journey of resilience, faith, and personal growth. Through his writing and live performances, he challenges audiences to find hope in difficult seasons, strengthen relationships, and embrace healing through authenticity, purpose, and joy.

Known for his energetic stage presence and relatable storytelling style, Vernard has performed for churches, military audiences, corporate events, conferences, comedy venues, and community organizations. His signature approach—often described as “laugh therapy” creates a safe and uplifting atmosphere where audiences feel encouraged, empowered, and connected.

In addition to his solo work, Vernard co-leads United on Purpose alongside his wife, Latricia “Trish” Hines. Together, they provide marriage and relationship coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements focused on strengthening families, blended households, and faith-based relationships.

Vernard’s mission is to use laughter as a catalyst for healing, unity, and personal transformation, reminding audiences everywhere that joy and purpose can be found even in life’s most challenging moments.

For the best experience, a handheld wireless microphone and sound system appropriate for the room are preferred. A well-lit performance area with the audience seated reasonably close helps create the best comedy experience.

For events with meals, performing after meal service is preferred when possible.

These are simply preferences and can be adjusted based on the venue and event setup. The goal is to work with you to make your event a success.
