John Gilbreath, a retired Navy veteran with an uncanny talent for finding the best apple fritter in any town, began his standup journey to conceal this quirky skill. He has opened for Heather Land at the Attucks Theater and performed for Capital One and Chauvet.
For the past decade, he’s been the owner and producer of Laughmeisters, a traveling comedy show that brings laughter to breweries throughout Virginia and North Carolina. A regular performer and producer at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone, he has also co-produced standup in the 3rd Annual Norfolk Comedy Festival, performed in the 2021 Virginia Beach Comedy Festival, and has been selected to perform at the 2024 North Carolina Comedy Festival.
He has shared the stage with notable comedians such as Bonnie McFarlane, Joe List, Louis Katz, Tony Roberts, Damon Wayans Jr., Roy Wood Jr., and Kevin Downey, Jr. (unrelated to that guy with great teeth who plays Iron Man).
