Joey Young

A “Joey Young show is one you will never forget” is a line I hear quite often. Though you 100% should except fierce vocals and eccentric costumes/costume changes, it’s the moments that lie between the numbers that really make the show worth while. I not only look at myself as a musician but a story teller, I share with the audience stories of self love, mental health awareness, surviving the loss of loved ones, defying the odds people set against you, or even as simple as just finding yourself and loving who you are! I will always serve you a show that will entertain you, that will leave you laughing, then smiling, then crying, then back to laughing and smiling again, a show of mine is for sure a full circle experience you won’t want to miss out on.

Though his name is one you might not have heard of before, its for sure one you won't be able to forget...

Joey Young is a 19 year old singer-songwriter from McKeesport, Pennsylvania, who was brought up in the musical theater scene from a young age, aiding him in his accession into the musical industry.

In February of 2020, he released his first single "Human Race" a dedication piece created in honor of his late aunt Andrea, to be released on the second anniversary of her passing. Following that he released a live audio experience of the first official live performance of "Human Race", along with a speech that he opened up the massive "Music in our Schools Month" concert that showcases talent from the entire McKeesport Area School District.

With nearly an entire year in between his first and second releases, he made a major return into music with the power ballad “Breakthrough” on the first day of 2021. The record came as he emerged from “the worst 8 months of his life” as he recalls it,  with a record that focused on the importance of acknowledging your mental health, and reclaiming the power within yourself.

This renewing energy would carry over into his next two releases, “Scorpio” and “Love Letter,” they served as his first ventures into a more pop/dance driven sound, which revealed his versatility within his music capabilities and visuals, releasing his first music video (Scorpio) and dawning the covers of the singles artwork for the first time in his career.

The songs he would release would lay as the foundation for the biggest moment of his career thus far to come, when he was announced as a contestant in Audacy’s  2021 “Opening Act” competition in August, competing to win $10,000 and perform as the opening act at a star-studded show at The legendary “Hollywood Bowl,” in the fall and made it all the way into the quarterfinals placing in 3rd!

In regards to my performances, I usually adapt well to any space I’m given regardless of its size, area, or location! I would however ask, that I am given time before the event to do a sound check depending upon the venue/size of the event. I do tend to jump into splits, make my way around the venue while I perform, and interact with the crowd so having more room to do so stage wise is definitely important for my type of show along with making sure the crowd is comfortable and open to an interactive show.
