Overview

Hello, I am Joel Ballard, a resident of Savannah, Georgia, and a student at the Savannah Arts Academy. I have been playing the trombone for around 6 years, and I plan to pursue music performance as a career after I graduate. I am part of the Savannah Arts Wind Ensemble, SkyLite Jazz band, and the SAA Orchestra. Outside of school I am a part of the Armstrong Youth Orchestra and The Savannah High School Trombone Choir, both comprised of students from the Savannah area. Contact me if you are interested in having me play at an event, and not only will you have good, quality music, but you will also showcase to your attendees the talent of local high school musicians in Savannah. Thanks!

Booking information

Price range: $50 and up

Languages: English

Gig length: 30 - 120 minutes

What to expect

If you hired me, I can play any type of music that will fit the mood, or that you may want me to play. Also, you may be surprised at how the trombone can sound, because it is a common misconception that they can only play loud or menacing.

About

I have been living in the Savannah area for about 12 years now. I started playing the trombone in the 5th grade, and ever since middle school I decided that when I grew up I wanted to play professionally, as it would allow me to do something I love doing, and to make money off of it. By doing GigSalad I hope to acquire more experience playing in public, and a taste of what professional musicians do whenever they get a public gig. I am also interested in making some side money doing something I enjoy doing.

Additional booking notes

I don't have any requirements for services such as lighting, staging, or sound. I will be happy to play in any setting, and these things will not make me sound drastically better than how it would with out them.

Set list

Contact me with information about your event, and I will decide what repertoire will fit the occasion (unless you have something in particular you want to be played).

Influences and inspiration

Past or present acts that have influenced me include travelling to the All State Band, District Honor Band, going to Valdosta and Dahlonega, GA for Jazz Clinics, and going to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend a master class with one of the world's best trombonists, Ian Bousfield, among other things. Playing with trombonists and musicians in the South Eastern area and attending these events have influenced me to want to become the best I can at my instrument.

Setup requirements

None. I can bring my own stand and music, unless you provide music.
