September 20, 2012I booked the Royal Virginians for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. My dad grew up during the big band era and loved all of the music from that time period. Joe not only performed all of dad's old favorites, but the band had such energy and emotion. It was like traveling back in time for my mother and father and the guests enjoyed it too. We danced the entire time and sang along to the music as well. Would highly recommend this band for anyone looking for authentic nostalgia.

June 3, 2012We hired the Royal Virginians to perform for my daughter's wedding reception and they exceeded our expectations. We are still receiving compliments from guests at the wedding on how great the band was in their performance. Our daughter has told us that she too is still receiving compliments. The band was very accommodating in all our requests. Joe was very friendly and the music kept everyone in a happy mood throughout the reception. We highly recommend this group!

Our orchestra primarily performs for dancing though we have an excellent two hour concert. A typical dance will last for three hours with two 15 minute intermissions.
The Royal Virginians Big Band was founded in 2004 by an energetic young band leader from Richmond, Virginia named Joe Enroughty. Today the orchestra boasts some of the area's top musicians and has a reputation for providing quality musical entertainment that is very affordable.
The Royal Virginians, under the direction of 33 year old Joe Enroughty, continue to be the leader in Big Band entertainment for the Central Virginia area. The orchestra performs music made famous by many of the "name bands" of the Big Band Era including: Guy Lombardo, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Harry James, Russ Morgan, Jan Garber, and many more. Five very talented arrangers write the arrangements for the orchestra to give it a fresh and unique sound not found in many of today's Big Bands.
Vocalists Dick Orange and Deborah Leone add to the musical splendor of the orchestra and bring to life many of the greatest popular songs of our time. Songs like "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Exactly Like You," "My Way," "Sentimental Journey," "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," and "All The Way" are just a sampling of the many selections Dick and Deborah can perform for you. You'll hear songs associated with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Dinah Shore, Keely Smith, Judy Garland, Michael Buble, and more!
Recently, the orchestra has traveled to the Washington, D.C. area, Maryland, Charlottesville, Williamsburg, and many other localities away from their home base.
Stage Requirements
The orchestra needs a minimum of 12 feet x 30 feet for a stage. The stage may be raised or floor level. Since the majority of performances by the Orchestra are dances or dinner dances, we recommend that floor space at least twice the size as the stage area be left open in front of the orchestra for dancing. We also require 15 armless chairs (folding chairs are fine).
Electrical Requirements
Any of our equipment that needs electricity will run on standard 110 circuits. The orchestra will furnish its own sound system, extension cords, and will need close access to at least two standard outlets. Any electricity provided must be able to power the orchestra's sound system, amps for the keyboard and guitar, and 15 stand lights (around 1060 watts).
Setup/Breakdown Time
A minimum of one hour on each side of the gig is required for setup and breakdown. This time will not be charged to the client.
