About
A Bluegrass Jam band experience like no other. With music rooted in Appalachia and borrowing from Chicago Blues traditions and the soul of Southern rock, Joe Cangelosi & Railroad Thunder will always keep you on your toes with their soulful acoustic music. Established in Chicago as a folk duo, banjoist Joe Cangelosi (Can-Jell-O-see) started Railroad Thunder during the pandemic. After moving to East Tennessee, and getting a degree in Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies, Joe kept the name Railroad Thunder for his backing band. From his roots in Chicago learning the Blues and his time in Appalachia, Joe has cultivated a style all his own blending influences from Billy Strings, The Steeldriver, and The Allman Brothers. Their sound is solidified by improvisation, marking their music as truly human. It moves, breathes, and breaks offering the audience a captivatingly unique experience every time.
Additional booking notes
Joe Cangelosi and Railroad Thunder is ready to set up and play. They have their our own P.A. system, mixer, and recording elements to capture a great performance. When performing, they just need access to power and preferably a covered area if outdoors. Being a three piece band, they do not require a huge stage area to perform. If outside at night, lighting will have to be provided as they will not provide their own stage lights.
