Maddy and Clarke

Maddy and Clarke played fiddle tunes during our backyard wedding this spring, and it was exactly what we wanted. These two have so much love for traditional fiddle and banjo music, i.e the music that’s been bringing people together for centuries. Their performance made our wedding feel timeless, warm, and exactly the right amount of upbeat. They're also just good and professional people—punctual, trustworthy, super collaborative with the other musicians involved, and with reasonable rates. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

I do cultural Appalachian Studies programming and teaching at a small university, and I have hired Maddy and Clarke over the past several years on a number of occasions for all sorts of different gigs, including as a square dance band, as old-time jam leaders, and as musicians during a student activity. They are very dependable, professional, super easy t work with, and friendly and can confidently play for a dance or gently lead and teach learning players. They have a huge repertoire and are excellent musicians. Highly recommend!

Maddy and Clark performed Old Time Music and served as dance callers for us at a private event. Everyone, at this family-friendly event, had an excellent time, enjoying the music and able to follow Maddy and Clarke’s dance directions with ease.

Maddy and Clarke’s musicianship at this event and at others when we’ve heard them perform is always excellent. In addition to the great Old Time/Bluegrass music they played at our event, they are masters of a wide variety of folk, acoustic, and surprising and delightful gems from early recordings.

They were fun and engaging with the audience, both as musicians and callers. Easy to work with, they adapted well to our non-standard venue, a wide range of ages on the dance floor, and widely differing levels of experience with called dances.

We will definitely hire them again, and look forward to working with them and enjoying their music!

Maddy and Clarke are incredibly talented players and incredibly knowledgeable bearers of tradition. We've hosted them at our venue (Rare Bird Farm) as performers, accompanists for dance workshops, and leaders of their own music workshops. They're fantastic communicators, sweet people, and huge value adds for an event. At our most recent music festival, they were hired to accompany flat-footing and clogging workshops, but they stayed the whole evening and ended up playing and calling an impromptu square dance after the official programming had ended. It was pure magic.

We were delighted to have Maddy and Clarke play our wedding! It was the first time square dancing for many of the guests and they made it a really fun event for everyone!!
