About
North Carolina’s None of the Above (NOTA) has been performing in the Piedmont Triad area with their bluegrass-based acoustic music for well over twenty-five years.
While many acts perform and record bluegrass and acoustic music, there are few true bands. NOTA isn’t concerned with who’s in the spotlight; they focus on creating and performing the best music possible. Their goal is to produce something special and out of the ordinary, greater than the sum of its individual parts.
By working with traditional bluegrass instrumentation, NOTA has crafted a unique sound. Their music incorporates elements and material from a variety of styles including Bluegrass, Americana, Alternative Country, Folk, Rock, and their own original compositions. NOTA’s musical style maintains its traditional roots while drawing on each member’s interpretation and contribution to arrangements. This ultimately produces a sound that lives up to their name: None of the Above.
NOTA currently boasts six recording projects: “…all points in between,” “Make a Note,” “Illusions,” “Calvary,” “Turn the Page,” and most recently, “Scarecrows & Devils.” They have also been featured on four compilation CDs over the years, most notably the “Our State Down Home In North Carolina” CD. Our 7th project celebrating our 25th anniversary: “The Good Silver” will be released later this year.
Additional booking notes
If NOTA is not providing the sound system then we will require 4 vocal mics. All instruments have onboard pick-ups and use pre-amps. We will bring mics, stands, pick-ups and pre-amps/DI’s for the instruments and xlr cables. Sound/mixing board will need to have at least 12 xlr inputs and prefer that the PA set up has a minimum of 1500 watts of total power.
NOTA uses a wireless in-ear monitor system. We will bring our own rack with a splitter for all xlr lines, we will control our in-ears from our sound board on stage and the venue will have full control of the mix via the spilt box to control the house sound. We will need a power source near the stage area to connect to our in-ear monitor system, bass amp and across the front for pedals boards. We can also just provide a right/left mix to the house and control all sound from the stage if needed.
