Expect practical, direct leadership speaking for first-time managers and the organizations that promote them. Keynotes run 45–60 minutes; workshops are available as half-day and full-day training.

Signature sessions:
1. Take Ownership of the Conversation: How Intentional Leadership Conversations Improved First-Year Manager Retention by 40+ Percentage Points — An improvement story told by the practitioner who lived it. Participants map one real conversation their new managers are not having today and leave with one conversation they can start the following week. Built on the VOICES framework: Vision, Ownership, Integrity, Communication, Empathy, Servant Leadership.
2. Ownership and Self Mastery — For entrepreneurs and owners: ownership starts with the leader's own habits, decisions, and accountability before it can be expected from a team.
3. My First Time Leaders (workshop/training format) — For strong individual contributors newly promoted into management: the support, education, and mentorship most never get — structured leadership conversations, knowing your people, and knowing what is actually happening on the floor.

Travel: Based in Iowa. Local (Iowa) engagements: open to unpaid exposure opportunities. Out-of-state engagements: speaking fee required, or at minimum full travel coverage.

JJ Hardy is Founder & Coach at Victory Leadership Coaching. He brings over 25 years of combined military and civilian leadership experience: U.S. Army transportation logistics (retired 2018), then private-sector transportation operations and transportation safety.

As a safety manager — on top of his day job, not as an outside program — he built a nationwide leadership development program for first-time operations managers and lead drivers. The result: first-year new-manager retention improved by 40+ percentage points within a year.

His core teaching: a manager does not have people working for them; a manager is accountable for team outcomes and works for their employees, in a support role. He now coaches first-time leaders and speaks on ownership, leadership conversations, and self-mastery for organizations with operational, top-down/bottom-up structures similar to the military.
