We are a hard driving, traditional, Bluegrass Band. We also play original tunes and Gospel music. Playing banjo is the 8 time State banjo Champion Doug Knecht. Peg Schippert does a large part of our singing and plays guitar and mandolin. Cliff Anglen picks the mandolin and Dobro. Dave Schippert and Gary Dickson both pick lead guitar and bass fiddle. We have 3 and sometimes 4 part harmony. We love performing.

June 18, 2017We had them play at our casual open-house style wedding reception. They fit perfectly into our reception in a barn and they sounded amazing!!!! We recieved many compliments from our guests on the band. They were super easy to work with! We highly recommend!

Illinois Rail is a hard-driving Bluegrass band. We play traditional standard Bluegrass songs mixed with fast instrumentals, some original songs and plenty of three and four part harmony. We also play Church related venues and have a large repertoire of Gospel music if that is what is wanted. Lead instruments include banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar and some Dobro (slide guitar).
Dave and Peg Schippert are a husband and wife team. Peg sings a major part of our songs while playing guitar and mandolin. Dave plays lead guitar and bass.
Doug Knecht is a top rate banjo player, and singer, who has played with other professional bands touring Europe an much of the United States.
Cliff Anglen plays mandolin and Dobro and sings.
Gary Dickson plays lead guitar and bass and sings.
