Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy your Labor Day

Labor Day was created to honor American workers and celebrate all of their hard work. Along with that, it is also the unofficial end of summer. Whatever reason you pick to celebrate, it is the perfect excuse to call up your family and friends, relax and have fun. Grab your barbecue pit, string up the red, white, and blue, get the games going, the music blaring, and you’re ready for a Labor Day party that your guests will never want to leave. Don’t forget to use GigSalad to make your planning process quick and simple.

Pin up the Patriotic Decor

Labor Day party decorations are usually very patriotic. Red, white, and blue is a pretty standard color scheme. Make sure you put a large amount of balloons, streamers, and red, white, and blue decorations in your space to make sure your party is festive. Whether you use kitchen tables, picnic tables, or banquet tables cover them with red, white, and blue table cloths with creative center pieces. You can use items you already have or you can rent both tables and table cloths from a local supplier. Also, if your event is outside, make sure you have plenty of tiki torches, twinkle lights, and citronella candles to keep the bugs away and keep the party going into the night. Also, it is always a good idea to set up tents if you are having an outside party in order to give your guests shelter from the sun or rain.

Let’s Get this Party Started!

Since most Labor Day parties are outdoors, it gives you a ton of entertainment options. For starters, team sports and races are Labor Day classics. Flag football, softball, volleyball, horseshoes, and croquet are only a few popular games people adore. Along with those, tug of war, hula hoops, and relay races are party favorites also. If you want to get a little more creative with your party entertainment, try hiring a fire performer, balancing act, stilt walker, juggler, human statue, or other circus entertainment to wow the party-goers. Comedians, break dancers , impersonator, holiday entertainment, or variety entertainment are also great ways to keep your guests amused. Labor is often a family event, so keep the kiddos entertained with a clown, face painter, or balloon twister. If space and budget allow, another great option for the children of the party would be inflatable rides or carnival games.

Music is also a Labor Day party must have! Whether you choose a country band, alternative band, cover band, top 40 band, event DJ, or party band the guests will love it. If you prefer specialty music try a barbershop quartet or dueling pianos perform at your party. Your attendees can choose to relax and just enjoy the music or dance the day and night away. Finally, if you would like to entertain your guests with a patriotic movie on the big screen, rent a inflatable movie screen and set up blankets or lawn chairs. All and all, the options are endless, but whatever you choose, your party is sure to be a blast.

Get the Grill Sizzling

The more food, the better, at a typical Labor Day party. To begin, use finger foods for appetizers to make it easier on your guests to graze. Pigs in a blanket, dips, cheese platters, cheese sticks, toasted ravioli, and mini sandwiches are just a few examples. Grilled burgers, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, pork chops, or any other type of meat is a pretty standard Labor Day main dish. Kabobs are also very popular. Grilled vegetables, potatoes, salad, fruit, and casseroles are perfect side dishes. For desserts, pies, ice cream, and patriotic cakes, cookies, and cupcakes are perfect. You can even hire a caterer to make and serve your food for you so all you have to worry about is enjoying the party. A potluck, where every guest brings one dish, is also a fun way to ease your hosting duties. Next, for drinks, summer drinks like fruit punch, lemonade, beer, wine coolers, and soda are great. Frozen drinks like slushes, margaritas, and daiquiris are refreshing during a hot summer day too. For a decorative touch keep the drinks in red, white, and blue ice buckets. If you have a larger party hire a bartender to serve the drinks. With this huge plethora of food and drinks, your guests are sure to be satisfied!

Once your decorations are up, the entertainment is set, and the food is made, your Labor Day bash is ready to get rolling. Remember, planning a party can be a great deal of work so if you want some assistance, hire an event planner to lighten your load. Also, don’t forget to use GigSalad to make sure every detail of your party is fast and simple for you or your event planner to put together.
