Spring is in the Air
Since Easter occurs in the springtime, the decorations for your party should reflect the time of year. To set the mood for the holiday, use fresh, pastel colors to decorate. Serve your food with festive plates, cups, and napkins; any party store will have these Easter themed items. Don’t forget about tabletop decorations. You can adorn the tables with fresh cut flowers or bowls of dyed Easter eggs.
The music can set the tone just as well as the decor. For a holiday like Easter, the music needs to be something light and cheerful. If you’re having an event at your home, you’ll want to have a smaller group. You could hire a string duo or trio to liven up the party, or if you don’t want instrumental music, you could bring in an a cappella group. If you’re planning a large event for your church, you could bring in a chamber orchestra, choir, or gospel music group to keep your party-goers entertained.
Easter Egg Hunt!
The tradition that most people participate in is an Easter egg hunt. This holiday tradition consists of hiding brightly colored plastic eggs in an area, and then the ‘hunters’ run around trying to collect the most eggs. The eggs are filled usually with candy, but you can also put money or other goodies in there as well. You can hold your Easter egg hunt in your house, in your backyard, at a park, etc. It wouldn’t be Easter without an appearance from the Easter Bunny! Hire a costumed character to come entertain the kids as the Easter Bunny, or find an Easter Bunny costume and dress up yourself.
Other fun party ideas include dying your own Easter eggs. To do this, hard boil as many eggs as you wish to dye. You can find Easter egg dying kits at your local grocery or party store. The kit usually provides the dyes, drying rack, stickers to put on the eggs, etc. Since the eggs are hard boiled, you can keep them in the fridge, and they then make a nice, healthy snack for later!
Make Your Sweet Tooth Happy
Easter is known as a holiday that involves a lot of sweets. As mentioned before, usually the Easter egg hunt eggs are usually stuffed with candy. You need to balance out all the sweets with a nice Easter lunch. Hire a caterer to prepare a fantastic meal for you, or you can make one yourself. You can do it potluck style and have your guests each bring a dish. If you want you could prepare the main course, like a baked ham, to go along with the dishes your guests bring. To wrap up your meal, you’ll need some yummy desserts. By this time, everyone may be sick of candy. Make some sugar cookies shaped like bunnies and eggs, you can then decorate them with different colored icing.
If the weather is going to be nice, hold the party outside! The kids are out there hunting Easter eggs anyways. You can rent a tent, tables, and chairs to set everything up outside. If you know who all will be attending in advance, ask people if they have any tents, tables, or chairs, that they can bring to the event. If you can’t get enough stuff donated, there are plenty of rental companies out there who can assist.
Easter is a fun holiday to celebrate. Everyone gets their sugar fix, spring weather is rolling around, and you get to bond with family and friends. If you’re going to be having a large party, you could always hire an event planner to do the hard work for you. Have a Hoppy - I mean Happy - Easter!
