Overview

Authentic bluegrass and gospel music with a little country and rock-in-roll. Songs of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and other bluegrass originals. Fiddle tune instrumentals and some Johnny Cash. No electric instruments. We can furnish our own professional sound system for any size event.

High Street arrived early, set up professionally and in a cool no-drama style, and played the perfect soundtrack to our Fall Festival. We're looking forward to having them back next year.

The band wives were totally cool, too.

About

Wayne Agnew was born in Oklahoma in 1943. His first string instrument was a mandolin he started playing as a pre-teenager. In his later teens he started playing guitar and bass in garage bands. His first Influence was Johnny Cash’s guitar picker Luther Perkins and learning all his breaks. Then influenced by Earl Scruggs he purchased his first banjo in 1963. In later years after being with the California State Old Time Fiddle Association his interest turned to old time fiddle music. He has competed at Fiddle and Picking contest In Banjo, Fiddle, and Autoharp divisions. He enjoys playing bass for the other contestants. In addition to playing he has Judged many Fiddle and Pickings contest. Next year will be his 11 year judging at the Topanga Fiddle and Banjo contest. Wayne started singing in church as a kid and always tried to sing the bass parts. Although not interested in singing he knows many songs.
