"A Passion for Birds", a unique, interpretive program helping people to understand and connect with birds and wildlife. Using masks, comedy, and loads of audience participation, it explores how and why birds have adapted to their environment. Participants get to don the masks and soar as Eagles, stalk as Herons and swim as Puffins. Fits science curriculum standards perfectly.

May 15, 2020According to my daughter, she had never seen her 4 1/2 year old son laugh so hard in his life. Henry was delightful. He was right on top of everything- confirmation of the event, making sure he knew what we wished in terms of performance, managing the COVID 19 situation by performing outside (in very high winds), showing up early on his stilts and ending with wands of fire. Picture my little ones yelling, "No! You can't play with fire!" And then watching and laughing with hands covered over their eyes, peeking through gapped fingers. They have been pretend juggling since with imaginary objects, telling everyone to get out of the way. We want Henry back when it is safe to have him close by and let the kids try alongside- except for the fire part. Thank you, Henry!

Henry Lappen has been performing comedy for over 25 years. He has been an avid student of nature since childhood. His 2 shows both combine comedy and theater with lots of audience interaction. Henry graduated from the Dell'Arte School of Physical Comedy in California. He is a member of the International Jugglers Association, the Hampshire Bird Club and Northeast Hawkwatch. Henry was a Great Blue Heron in a past life.

Henry has performed several times at the Wellfleet Public Library and the performance was a huge success. He provided the exact kind of program that we so value here in Wellfleet, one that thrilled children of all ages and provided much needed family entertainment for full time and summer residents as well as vacationing families.
