March 28, 2020The Lightning and the Thunder
So my family and I were coming through the Black Hills in South Dakota on our way back from Yellowstone in our truck and pop up trailer when we set up camp at Blue Bell Campground in August of last year. A Thunderstorm was lingering a few miles to the Northeast, but the concert was still a go. Harland got a few songs into his set when the lightning and Thunder inched just a little too close and, “CRACK!” THAT ON WAS TOO CLOSE! Concert done! Most amazing night that was, great memory. 10/10 would listen to him play again.

About
“When you feel life is filled with good, you’ll see,
that we’re in Heaven now”. Lyrics from Harland Allen’s song “Heaven Now”
Harland Allen’s unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences from western, country, folk and rock music. Harland’s original songs combine his genuine unpretentious lyrics and mellow vocals, with his amazing guitar playing, for a blend that is unique, exciting and heart warming. His songs resonate with feeling, compassion, and zest for life. Harland has a beautiful baritone voice with a near two octave vocal range (well beyond two octaves when singing falsetto) and an old style country / rockabilly guitar playing style. He’s been a professional musician and entertainer for many years. He has performed as a soloist, in duos, trios and in four and five piece bands. The cover songs he plays range from James Taylor and The Eagles to Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers.
You’ve seen him on South Dakota Public Television’s “No Cover No Minimum”, heard him on South Dakota Public Radio “In the Moment” program. His original song “Dear Child” received air time in the UK and was the inspirational song of the month on KCMR radio in Mason City, Iowa. His music was inducted into the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
He has been on tour through Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
