Gregg Gelb is 2018 Raleigh Medal of Arts Winner
Band leader, saxophonist, clarinetist, arranger, composer, and educator. In addition to leading his eight-piece Swing Band, La Fiesta Latin Jazz Band, Second Line Stompers (a Traditional Jazz Band/Dixieland/New Orleans) and straight ahead jazz combos, he is founder and director of the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Society, and co-founder and player with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra. He also directs the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble. He is recipient of a Jazz Composers Award from the North Carolina Arts Council. His bands have played for all types of events throughout North Carolina and beyond for over 20 years.

We can bring our sound system for most small venues that fit up to about 500 people. We prefer venues to provide a tuned grand piano but usually bring our own keyboards.

Our song list is very long and because there are still so many great tunes to play we keep adding to it. Please view our repertoire list at our website but that by no means is all the tunes we can play.
There are so many big bands, small jazz groups, New Orleans/Trad Jazz bands, Latin Jazz Bands from the entire span of jazz that influence us so it is not easy to say who are the main influences. We have drawn upon many influences to derive a personal sound that is aimed at giving listeners and dancers something that is unique but based on the great traditions of jazz. Any number of musicians can be listed as our influences such as; Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie holiday, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Mongo Santamaria, Louis Armstrong, the list goes on....
