About
Gone Coastal, Florida’s newest polka/variety band, formed in early 2025 as several well-known polka musicians made their way to the Sunshine State as residents and seasonal visitors. The group is led by Polka Hall of Famers, Mike Matousek on bass guitar and vocals and Jimmy Weber on clarinet, sax, trumpet, and vocals. Mike was the leader of Charm City Sound and The Boys based in Baltimore, MD and recently moved to Palmetto, FL. Jimmy led The Sounds from Pittsburgh, PA and relocated to Boca Raton, FL a few years ago. Drummer Jake “Kuba” Mikrut, a native of Chicago resides in Orlando, FL, while Mike Stapinski on trumpet, clarinet and vocals, escapes some of the Chicago winter in Miami each year. Johnny Krawisz, also from Chicago, just built a house in Palmetto, FL and is featured on accordion, keyboard, and vocals. Originally from Pulaski, WI, Steve Rodgers of Ft. Myers also lends his talents to the group on accordion, keyboard, trumpet and vocals. Trent Urbytus from Saginaw, MI who now resides in Inverness, FL, gets into the act on trumpet, accordion, and vocals. Together, these guys make Gone Coastal an entertaining dance band.
